Cybersecurity Tactical Stimulation Event Summary

Today many healthcare organizations find it hard to send their chief information officer, chief information security officer, IT infrastructure team, and C-level leadership off-site to participate in a comprehensive cybersecurity attack simulation.   This webinar-based tactical simulation allows a provider organization to participate conveniently on-site via a series of scheduled webinars.  From past cybersecurity simulation exercises, we have learned the importance of enabling health organizations to test their incidence response plans confidentially. Organizations that participate in this exercise will receive a cybersecurity tactical simulation certificate of participation.  The tactical simulation will consist of a preparation session and three webinars.  To get the most out of these session it is critical that your entire incident response team be present for every session except the preparation session.

October 14 9-9:30 am: Preparation Session – Review Cybersecurity Tactical Simulation process and attendee expectations.  Address all questions in preparation for the session to ensure attendees understand their role in the simulations.  This session will be recorded so if you cannot make this day/time you can listen to it at a more convenient time, but it should be no later than October 15th.

October 29, 11 am - 12 pm: Tactical Simulation Preparation Webinar – During this webinar, there will be an in-depth review of what healthcare organizations should currently have in place to combat a cybersecurity attack and a best practice review of:

  • Documented Incidence Response Plan
  • Healthcare Organization's Incidence Response Team (HOIRT) and Roles
  • Orientation of what a HOIRT should expect during the Cybersecurity Tactical Simulation

November 3, 8-10 am: Cybersecurity Tactical Simulation Webinar – During this two-hour webinar, each HOIRT will participate in a comprehensive cybersecurity simulated attack.  Each incident will test the organization and not just the IT team broadly. The simulation will require input and guidance from various levels of management.   At the start of the simulation, the team receives education on the current global threat landscape.  This tactical simulation experience will be based on the possibilities of the current threat landscape.  The simulation will start with manageable injects and build over the course of the exercise.  At the end of the simulation, teams will be encouraged to share strategies and lessons anonymously to learn from each other.

November 11, 11:30-12:30: Tactical Simulation Recap and Lessons Learned – This final session will review the anonymous strategies and lessons learned from the simulation participants.  The objective is to allow each participating organization to test drive their incidence response plan.  This session will enable the teams to verify readiness and enhance their current cybersecurity defenses.

Logistics: These meetings will be conducted using the Zoom platform.  Participants will need broadband Internet access and a computer with microphone and speakers.  For the best experience, participants should be in the same room for all events, but we can accomodate teams that are virtual.  One week prior to each session, we will send you the connection information.
